Performance Days Tbilisi – Sound Performance by Ben Wheeler at Performative Installation SHAKHTA
Live broadcast of a sound performance by Ben Wheeler at performative installation SHAKHTA.
Ben Wheeler is an experimental musician, composer, and ethnomusicologist whose work features the musical structures of folk traditions meshed with electronic music and lo-fi aesthetics. Influenced by a seemingly disparate array of musical characteristics from the Caucasus, tape music, Soviet-era electronics, and modular synthesis, he has released multiple solo albums under his own name, performed and written for a diverse selection of bands, and worked as a music director and composer. He currently teaches modular synthesis courses at Creative Education Studio in Georgia.
Performance Days Tbilisi festival is celebrating performance as a free artistic form that doesn’t have rules and welcomes experiments. Physical presence, the importance of Now, the fragility of the moment (limited time of a happening), all those elements whose importance is slowly disappearing. By this festival we are trying to remind this form to the public, show the variety of it, and bring some joy from it.
In cooperation with Common Waves, Community Radio Tbilisi will broadcast a series of performances and interviews.
